Palestine

Palestine does not have a currency of its own. Instead, the Israeli shekel serves as the de facto currency, alongside the Jordanian dinar and the U.S. dollar.

In 2021, the head of the Palestine Monetary Authority revealed in an interview with Bloomberg Television that they were conducting two feasibility assessments regarding the potential implementation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) for Palestine. The intention behind these studies is to explore the viability of introducing a digital currency that could be employed in domestic payment systems, with the broader aspiration of establishing mutually beneficial digital currency connections with Israel and other nations.
