Cape Verde, more commonly known as Cabo Verde, is a small western African country comprising of 10 Islands. It housed around 587K citizens as of 2021.
The government had expressed interest in developing the country’s CBDC. It is part of the Cape Verde’s Central Bank (BCV) strategic plan for 2021/24. The country wants to achieve 60% of digital public services by 2026. Research and analysis teams are analysing monetary policy’s impacts and the advantages and risks to its financial sector.
